School-to-Career Graduate Credit Course for Teachers

Education 786 changes every year due to updated trends and company locations visited. It may be taken multiple times for credit.

A two or three credit continuing education School-to-Work course for teachers conducted in cooperation with Viterbo University.  Teachers participate in classroom discussion and visit local businesses in small groups to become more informed about each business, their employment needs, and how schools and business can work together more effectively to prepare students for careers.  Reports developed by the teachers through each business visit are published in an annual “Area Business/Industry Career Planning Guide” and are distributed to all public and school libraries and guidance counselors as a reference for student career planning.

The 25th Annual School-to-Career Graduate Program,   “Transitioning From School to Work”  will be offered during the following weeks:

June 8-12, 2009

June 15-19, 2009

June 22-26, 2009

All dates will be offered in both the Fox Cities and Green Bay


Career Opportunities in the New Economy

1 Credit Class

Description of the Class: This hands-on class keeps educators up-to-date about job and career trends from a national, state and local prospective. “Soft skills” needed to be successful in the New Economy are explored. Students have the opportunity to complete Internet research on local employers in key industries. Group activities generate ideas for lesson plans about career/job opportunities in the new economy and feedback from key local industries.
